"Going Over Jordan" by Cat Bounds

How do you walk away from the life and the only security you've known, with a few belongings and your best friend, who happens to be a teddy bear, and start over? In the summer of 1962, in a rural community nestled deep in the foothills of the Ozarks, Callie Jaggers finds out in the twinkling of an eye that the suspect truths she has built her young life upon are lies when she is brutally molested, left for dead and then thrown to the wolves. But in this spellbinding Southern Gothic tale, this might be the gateway to the life she was born to live. Going over Jordan is a journey that spans a lifetime and more, as Callie learns to face her own inner demons, as well as a very real nightmare that stalks her through the forest and just won't leave her alone. Her own healing begins when Callie accepts her ability to heal others and learns that sometimes our true family is not the one we were born into. Her journey takes us to an extraordinary world of labyrinths, ancient crystal caverns, of moonstones with the power to restore the light that's been stolen, and the Wolf Clan who avenges its own. And Happily Ever After? Well, that would be giving away the ending, wouldn't it?

TAAS by Joe Reese

TAAS stands for Texas Assessment of Academic Skills. If you're offended by vulgar language - don't get this book. If you have some 1950s vision in your head of what your kids are doing every day in the public school system - don't get this book. If you're allergic to laughter - don't get this book. If, on the other hand, you need to laugh until your stomach hurts; and you have no "Leave it to Beaver" illusions about the modern-day public school system; and you are, maybe a bit of cynic about "Standardized Testing" and all things "politically correct," ... oh, you GOT to have it! Joe Reese starts the book with a blanket apology instead of a Prologue or Foreword. You'll see why when you read it. This thing is a laugh riot - destined to become a cult classic - especially among teachers who have been around the block a few times.

Return to Carolina by Ila Clements

It's hard for us old folk to keep up with Ms. Ila around here. She's the hardest working author in the business. "Return to Carolina" is the continuation of the Carolina Sagas, which started in the Civil War era, and has now taken us all the way up through WWII.

If you've followed the saga this far, you'll surely want to continue with Return to Carolina, available now in paperback, signed paperback, and .PDF email download.

Ila tells us that one more book remains before the saga is finished. We're looking forward to it!

Believe it or not, this school nurse sees all of it on a daily basis while putting up with whiny students, clueless teachers and psychotic parents. Read a compilation of her funniest moments and pretty soon you'll be wondering why there's no vaccine for stupid.
